Khairpur Mir’s is located in northern part of the province was a separate state of Talpur dynasty from 1783 to 1955. It was ruled by Mir’s. It was the capital city during the rule of Mir’s. It is famous for many reasons such as Sufi Sachal Sarmast belongs to this city who was a famous poet. Khairpur is also famous for date’s production which plays a vital role in the economy of Pakistan.
Faiz Mahal is a master piece of architecture. Its construction started in 1783 and ends in 1798. It was built by Mir Sohrab Khan, who established the Khairpur branch of the Talpur. It has a unique architectural design it was the residence of Rulers of Khairpur state. It was especially dedicated place for the rulers. Rulers look after the matters of the state from this Mahal.
The current descendant of the Talpur family, Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur, who acceded to the Pakistani state in 1956, is an environmentalist and has to his credit an extraordinary flora and fauna safe haven called the Mehrano, notorious for its black buck, and hog deer, both of which have turn out to be rare in Sindh, Pakistan.
Every part, every art of the Faiz Mahal is very much unique. It is well said when Faiz Mahal was completely built there were no any such Mahal in the continent because the Art and Architecture of Faiz Mahal extremely crossed every one's approach and thought.
Interior of Faiz Mahal was very beautiful and luxurious as today’s palaces are. There is a central hall in the middle of the Mahal. Besides this palace, the passionate lover and poet Ali Nawaz ordered to construct a separate bungalow that is simply called as Bali Jo Bungalow, where Mir Ali Nawaz and Bali used to spend most of time. By profession Bali was a dancer and singer. She was from Lahore and she spent her half of life in that Bungalow. A beautiful garden was made beside the bungalow. It is used for celebration and entertainment purpose. Even today Faiz Mahal has great importance. People from different areas want to visit Faiz Mahal. A part from that it is also generate revenue. Many Sindhi channels shoots dramas, songs and different programs here which are related with Mogul, Talpur and Kalhora dynasties.
Provincial government is very much concern about Faiz Mahal. Sindh government is spending 1.5 million every year on the maintenance of the Faiz Mahal. It is good initiate from government of Sindh to save historical places of the Sindh. It is one of the historical heritages of Sindh.
