Indus civilization is one of the oldest civilizations of the world. It consists of many archaeological and historical sites and monuments. Mohenjo-Daro also called “MOUND OF DEAD” is located in district Larkana of Sindh. It is an ancient and well known Indus valley civilization that flourished between 2600 and 1900 BC. In 1922 ruin of Mohenjo-Daro was discovered. It is proud for Sindh having that old heritage. Mohenjo-Daro is well recognized in the world. Recent survey into civilization shows that Mohenjo-Daro civilization was perhaps the 1st ever civilization where the concept of civil engineering, Architecture and luxurious life style flourished up to current standard. In Indus valley that system was built on grid system. We found 4500 years ago a city was built of bricks.
Findings show that how people of that city were rich. Many precious and ancient thing were found which tells that how the people of that city were standardized. Government has built a museum for visitor which consist these ancient and precious things which were found from that city. Precious weight stones of different scales and size were found. Historians also found grain which tells that people of that city were traders. Great bath was also discovered 39 ft.-long, 8 ft. deep, and 23 ft. wide rectangular bathing pool built from waterproofed brick. In surroundings of the pool there were series of small dressing rooms, each them contains a well that supplied water to the bath.
Furthermore weapons and tools which people of Mohenjo-Daro use are also available there in museum. People of Mohenjo-Daro were interested in dressing female of this city uses necklace made of beads and male were using statuette which is also available in museum. Seals were found with different animals and writing in large numbers. These seals were called steatite which was carved from a soft stone. Ruin also shows sewer system of the city having some remaining clay poise and one well. There was a complex drainage system which was spread throughout the city. The water and other sewage of the city were flowing into the Sindhu Nadi (Indus River). Through this sewerage system all classes of the city gets water in to their bathrooms. Deep wells were also located throughout the Mohenjo-Daro in which the people of the city stored their water. This is the ruins of several houses alongside a narrow alley. Most people of the city lived in the lower city, an area to the east of the citadel and three times its size. Flats were roofed, double story, mud brick houses lined the streets.
This place is valuable for tourist from over all the world, people from different countries comes here to visit and see the old civilization of the Sindh. This place is in easy access for every one because it is linked with different cities by road and an airport is also available near this city.
