Bhambhore is an Archaeological place in Sindh. It is situated about 65 km far from Karachi (Gharo). In 7th century it was known as Debal and it is said that it hold three civilization.

The city was very famous at that time for the trade but later on the city was abandon due to change in the Indus river course due to the earthquake in 8th century. The city was conquered by Muhammad Bin Qasim in 7th century and that time the Bhambhore was populated by Hindu Buddhist. It was known as the hub of trade and mostly the trade between south Asia and Arabs. The other civilizations that time was were also following them. According an archaeologist the Bhambhore is spread in 14 acres having three gates. There is museum in the Bhambhore where the things founded in Bhambhore are stored to keep them secure, at that time the different glassware, coins, glass lamps, perfumery bottles are stored and that were mad by the civilizations of Bhambhore. The love story of Sassi and Punhu is also very famous in Pakistan. Sassi was the daughter of a Raja at that time and in their family the daughter was not expected to born because their royalty was being destroyed so the Raja ordered to kill her but her mother locked her in a wooden box and thrown in the Indus river. A poor person found that box and he had no child so he thought to adopt that baby girl he thought that baby is blessing from God for him. As the sassi grew up she became extremely beautiful and as the Bhambhore was the hub of trade that’s why the many caravans daily pass there and the stories regarding sassi’s beauty spread there and a Prince Punhu came to know about his beauty. The prince went as her house and met her face to face and they felt in love at the first time but the father of sassi refused because the Prince was not from their castle.
Somehow sassi’s father give his permission for the marriage but the father of Prince was very angry from this disrespectable relation because Punhu was a prince and saasi was a poor lady. And he sent his other son at Bhambhore. Punhu’s brother threatened Punhu but he didn’t take them serious because his love for sassi was beyond that. So his brother planned a trick and in the celebration of the first night of marriage they mad Punhu heavy drunk and put him on the camel and brought back at their home land Makran. At the morning when sassi realized that Punhu cheated her she became mad and started barefoot twards Makran. She became thirsty and near a hunt asked for water from a man the man has dirty thought in his mind when he saw the beauty of sassi and tried to force him on sassi then sassi ran away and asked God to save her suddenly earth opened and she buried in earth. After that when the Prince Punhu got his senses back he came back Bhambhore and asked for her Sassi people told him the whole story and he felt on earth and asked God to give back her loved lady and at the same place earth reopened and Punhu also buried there. There grave still exists in the valley one must see that legendary grave.
